Learn more

Astigmatism

Distorted or doubled vision at all distances. Corrected with laser treatment or a toric implant.

Learn more

Hyperopia

Constant visual effort, fatigue especially up close. Corrected with hyperopic LASIK or an implant.

Learn more

Presbyopia

Difficulty reading up close after age 45. Options : PresbyLASIK or multifocal implants.

Refractive surgery

A technique tailored to each eye

No single technique suits everyone. After a complete pre-operative assessment (topography, aberrometry, pachymetry), Dr Tourabaly determines the solution best suited to your anatomy and your lifestyle.

Femtosecond LASIK

Correction with femtosecond and excimer lasers. Visual recovery within 24 to 48 hours. Indications: myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism.

Learn more

PRK / Trans-PRK

Surface ablation with no corneal flap. Indicated for thin corneas, contact sports and certain high-risk professions.

Learn more

SMILE

An all-femtosecond-laser technique with a 2 mm mini-incision. Less impact on the corneal nerves, hence less post-operative dryness.

Learn more

Phakic implant (ICL)

An intraocular lens placed in front of the natural lens. Reversible. Indicated for high myopia beyond −8 diopters or corneas too thin for laser surgery.

Learn more

Presbyopia

PresbyLASIK, monovision, multifocal or EDOF implants. A personalized solution based on your age, refractive error and visual habits.

Learn more

Eligibility test

A quick 2-minute questionnaire to find out whether you are a candidate for refractive surgery.

Cataract · Vision restored

Regain clear vision, free of glasses if you wish

A cataract is a progressive clouding of the natural lens. The procedure replaces the lens with an intraocular implant chosen together with you according to your visual needs.

  • Monofocal implants: covered by French national health insurance
  • EDOF implants (Symfony, Vivity): distance + intermediate vision
  • Multifocal implants (PanOptix): vision at all distances
  • Toric implants: simultaneous correction of astigmatism

After LASIK surgery to correct my myopia, I can say two months on that the result is more than convincing. A big thank you to Dr Tourabaly, who looked after me very well; he took the time to explain how the operation would unfold so I could go into it with peace of mind. Very professional, conscientious and patient 👍

I’m writing 3 days after my refractive PRK surgery performed by Doctor Tourabaly. Everything went smoothly, and everything was clear from start to finish. My eyesight is better than I expected. If you have a job where glasses get in the way, this operation will change your life.

Excellent surgeon. I had retinal detachment surgery in each eye and cataract surgery in both eyes as well, that is 4 fully successful operations over 2 years. He has just operated on a secondary cataract with the laser, very successfully. I wholeheartedly recommend Doctor Tourabaly, in whom I have complete confidence.

I had myopia surgery 3 weeks ago now using the LASIK technique. Dr Tourabaly listens and explains things very well. The operation went very smoothly, and so did the follow-up before and after. I recommend him wholeheartedly.

Frequently asked questions

The ones that come up most often

Am I a candidate for refractive surgery?
Eligibility depends on your prescription (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, presbyopia), the thickness and regularity of your cornea, the stability of your refraction over the past 12 months, and the absence of corneal conditions (keratoconus, severe dryness). A complete pre-operative assessment: topography, aberrometry, pachymetry, OCT: confirms whether the procedure is indicated. The online eligibility test gives a first estimate in 2 minutes.
Is laser surgery painful?
The procedure is performed under topical anesthesia (drops). You feel no pain during the procedure, only a brief sensation of pressure. In the hours that follow, mild discomfort such as stinging or watering is common but stays moderate. PRK involves 24 to 72 hours of more uncomfortable recovery than LASIK or SMILE, but with comparable medium-term outcomes.
When can I go back to work after LASIK?
For LASIK and SMILE: returning to work within 24 to 48 hours is possible in most cases. For PRK: 5 to 7 days off are recommended. In every case, avoid intense physical activity, swimming pools, saunas and dusty environments for 2 weeks. A sick-leave certificate is issued on the day of the procedure if your occupation requires it.
How much does the surgery cost? Is it reimbursed?
Refractive surgery is not reimbursed by French national health insurance. Indicative prices for both eyes: LASIK €3,000, PRK €2,500, SMILE €3,300, PresbyLASIK €3,500. ICL phakic implant from €2,800 per eye. Many private health insurers offer a laser vision allowance ranging from €200 to €1,000 per eye: check with your provider. Cataract surgery is covered by national health insurance except for premium implants (EDOF, multifocal, toric).
How many consultations are needed?
The usual pathway: 1 initial consultation, 1 complete pre-operative assessment, the day of the procedure, then follow-up on D1, D7, M1 and M3. Annual check-ups are then recommended to monitor the stability of the result and detect any change in your vision.
Is the correction permanent?
Laser correction (LASIK, PRK, SMILE) is stable over the long term in most patients. However, the eye keeps ageing: presbyopia appears gradually around age 45, and a cataract may develop after age 60. These changes also affect people who have never had surgery. Regular follow-up makes it possible to anticipate and adjust care if needed.
What is the difference between LASIK, PRK and SMILE?
LASIK creates a corneal flap with the femtosecond laser, then reshapes the stroma with an excimer laser (fast recovery). PRK removes the corneal epithelium and applies the excimer directly to the stroma (no flap, safer for thin corneas or contact sports, longer recovery). SMILE extracts an intrastromal lenticule through a 2 mm mini-incision, which better preserves the corneal nerves (less post-operative dryness).
