Vision simulator

EDUCATIONAL TOOL

This interactive tool helps you visualise the effect of myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia on your vision, as well as the expected benefit of refractive surgery. Drag the central handle to compare vision without correction and after surgery, then adjust the sliders to match your profile.

Simulation for educational purposes. It is not a substitute for an ophthalmological examination. Post-operative results vary from patient to patient. Only a complete pre-operative assessment can determine the technique suited to your case.

Frequently asked questions about the vision simulator

What exactly does this vision simulator show?

It illustrates the visual effect of the main optical errors — myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia — as well as the principle of correction through refractive surgery. The central slider lets you compare uncorrected and corrected vision within the same scene, and the controls let you adjust the intensity of each error.

Myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, presbyopia: what are the visual differences?

Myopia makes distance vision blurry while near vision stays sharp. Hyperopia calls for accommodative effort and tires the eyes, with blur mainly at near. Astigmatism distorts or doubles images at all distances, because the cornea is not perfectly spherical. Presbyopia, related to age, gradually reduces near vision from around 40 to 45.

Does the simulator’s rendering really match my own vision?

No: it is an average, educational representation. Real perception depends on the degree of the error, on whether it is combined with others and on factors specific to each eye. Only an eye examination can precisely measure your vision.

Does the “after surgery” preview predict my own result?

No. This illustration shows the principle of a correction and is not a commitment regarding your personal case. Recovery and outcome vary from one patient to another; only a complete preoperative assessment can evaluate the suitable technique and realistic benefits.

Does the simulator work on a smartphone?

Yes, the tool is accessible on computer, tablet and mobile. On a small screen, turn the device to landscape mode for more comfort when making the comparison.

Does this simulator replace a consultation?

No. It is intended for educational purposes and does not constitute medical advice. To find out whether you are eligible for refractive surgery and which technique to consider, a preoperative assessment with an ophthalmologist is essential.
