Ophthalmology consultation
Eye Exam in Paris and Cachan: Ophthalmology Consultation
A complete ophthalmological examination to assess your vision and determine whether you are eligible for refractive surgery or cataract treatment.
A complete vision assessment with Dr Tourabaly
Dr Moïse Tourabaly, former Chef de Clinique at the Quinze-Vingts and former Hospital-University Assistant at the Sorbonne, welcomes you at his practices in Paris 13 (Diabet’ Paris 13) and Cachan (94) for a complete ophthalmological assessment. Whether you wish to check your vision, consider refractive surgery or treat a cataract, everything begins with a thorough examination.
The examinations performed
The practice is equipped with latest-generation devices for a precise diagnosis:
- Automated and subjective refractometry: precise measurement of your optical correction
- Corneal topography (Pentacam): 3D mapping of the cornea, essential for assessing eligibility for LASIK
- Retinal OCT: high-resolution imaging of the retina and optic nerve (screening for AMD, glaucoma, macular edema)
- Ocular biometry (IOLMaster): measurement of the eye’s length for implant calculation in case of cataract
- Dilated fundus examination: examination of the peripheral retina, crucial for myopic and diabetic patients
- Tonometry: measurement of intraocular pressure (glaucoma screening)
- Visual field (Humphrey): detection of glaucoma damage
Who is it for?
The ophthalmological assessment is intended for everyone:
- Candidates for refractive surgery: if you wish to free yourself from glasses, a complete preoperative assessment will determine the appropriate technique (LASIK, PRK, SMILE, phakic implant)
- Patients with cataract: pre-surgical assessment with calculation of the optimal implant (cataract Paris)
- Diabetic patients: monitoring of diabetic retinopathy and macular edema, a specialty of the Paris 13 practice
- Glaucoma screening: tonometry, visual field, optic nerve OCT
- Monitoring of high myopia: regular retinal monitoring recommended
- Presbyopia assessment: after age 45, evaluation of surgical options

Frequently asked questions — Eye examination
What does a complete eye examination include?
A complete examination assesses your visual acuity and refraction, then examines the eye with a slit lamp, measures intraocular pressure (tonometry) and analyses the fundus. Depending on the reason, it may be supplemented by corneal topography or an OCT scan.
Is the examination reimbursed?
Yes. The ophthalmology consultation is covered by French statutory health insurance under direct billing (tiers payant); your complementary insurer tops up the reimbursement, partially or in full depending on your contract.
Do I need to come with someone?
If the examination requires pupil dilation, your vision stays blurred and dazzled for a few hours, so driving is not advised. Plan for someone to accompany you or another means of transport.
From what age and for whom?
The examination is for everyone: children, adults and seniors. It is indicated in case of declining vision, visual fatigue, for glaucoma or AMD screening, or before a surgical project.
Where does the examination take place?
The vision examination takes place at the Paris 13 and Cachan practices. The specific assessment prior to refractive surgery is carried out at the Cachan practice.
